The isocyanate may be an aromatic diisocyanate or aromatic polyisocyanate of higher functionality, optionally a crude mixture of methylene bridged polyphenyl polyisocyanates. The non-ionic surface active agent may have the formula where R = alkyl group of 1-4 C atoms, n is an integer such that the compound contains at least 5 oxyethylene groups and X is the residue of a di- or polyisocyanate and contains at least one free isocyanate group. The above aqueous emulsions are prepared by mixing the components.
