Suitably, the support is an alumina having an initial macropore volume of at least 0.1 ml/g which is reduced by at least 20% if an addition of the uranium, an initial micropore volume of 0.2-1.0 ml/g and an initial surface area of 200-500 m2/g. The metals may be present as the oxides or sulphides.
