<p>Especially extraction of sucrose from sugar beet, is effected by moving he finely divided solid materials through at least two extraction phases with independent circulation of the extracting liquid in each phase, and by moving the liquid of the one phase towards the other phase in countercurrent to the movement of the solid materials. Each extraction phase has its own reservoir for extraction liquid, and in each phase the extraction liquid flows over and through the solid materials, while simultaneously the liquid flows over nd through the solid materials, while simultaneously the liquid flows from the reservoir of one phase towards the reservoir of a previous phase. The major part of the finely divided material is not allowed to settle, while it is transported from the one phase to the other. The finely divided solid materials are pref. transported over at least two separate transport phases, the solid materials being allowed to fall under the influence of centrifugal force from one transport phase to the next, soluble substances being extracted in each phase by extraction liquid while this is being transported.</p> |
