New N-acyl-sydnonimine derivs. of formula (I). In the formula, R is phenyl, 2-phenylethyl, DL-l-methyl-2-phenylethyl or D(-D)-1-methyl-2-phenylethyl; R' is H or phenyl; and X is lower alkyl, phenyl or 3-R"-R-R"'-anilino in which R" is H, halogen or lower fluorinated alkyl and R"' is H, halogen or lower alkyl. Provisos are that (a) when R is DL-methyl-2-phenylethyl, R' is H and R" is Cl, then R"' must be Cl, (b) when R' is H and X is anilino, then R must be phenyl. (I) have psychostimulant activity (2-4 times more active than the known cpd. DL-N-phenylcarbamoyl-3-(1-methyl-2-phenylethyl)sydnoneimine) coupled with toxicity. Specific cpds. (I) include DL-N-acetyl-3-(1-methyl-2-phenylethyl)sydnonimine.
