The head up display for the cockpit of an aircraft has digital information processed into analogue form and displayed on a series of lights under a fibre optic array. The output of the array positions the information into the projection position for optimum vision. The information can be presented in the selected parts of the display by controlled mixing of the fibre paths. The input and outputs sides of the array have contoured surfaces so that lateral smearing is kept to a minimum.
