The appts. has a vessel contg. nitrogen or argon gas under pressure connected to a container holding the fire extinguishing mixt. This consists of equal quantities of dry sand having a grain size between 60 and 70 according to the A.F.A. index, and of an electropositive mixt. This mixt. can be 25% potassium chloride, 30% magnesium chloride, 30% barium chloride and 15% of calcium or magnesium fluoride. The container also houses a sachet of a dehydrating agent. At the bottom is an outlet connected to a discharge nozzle. Both the top inlet and the discharge nozzle are connected by pressure control systems, each with a monometer to the gas vessel.
