The electro-magnetic machine tool control system positions and orientates a drill bit (8) cutting angles in the formation of gear teeth. Variations in induction resulting from the penetration of the bit (8) into a magnetic field are used, and no physical contact is made between the probe and the bit. The control assembly for the loading, location and rotation of the bit (8) has a motor driven (36-40) rotating spindle (30) in a mounting block (32). The bit is loaded and axially aligned in the projecting axial extremity of the spindle (30) and is secured by a chuck (34) operated from the opposite spindle extremity (35). The detection equipment (53) with the probe, is a retractable assembly which registers the angular orientation of the bit and acts with an auto-read-out group. During its rotation, the bit (8) modifies the frequency of an oscillator coupled to the auto system. The probe has a 'U' shaped magnetic core with an induction bobbin and is mounted in the oscillating circuit.
|
