<p>The roller is provided at each end with a casing which may be displaced by an endless screw. The casing moves over ramps, sliding on solid elements of the roller shaft, to spread diametrically the slats which constitute the periphery of the roller. Further, the slats may be displaced lengthwise by pivto rings at the ends of the roller, which are controlled by screw jacks or electro-magnets. The slats are joined to the rings by swivel joints. The roller adjustment may be effected precisely and automatically during the processing of the fabric sheets, by the action of screw jacks, or electro-magnets and/or cog wheels, to permit all kinds of volume change in the roller. It is possible that one selvedge may be wound on faster than the other, which can be detected by a scanning device, such as a photo-electric cell. By adjusting the diameter of the roller on one side, the fault may be corrected, Also, the over-running of selvedges, producing a lateral displacement of the cloth, may be corrected by the lengthwise adjustment of the peripheral slats.</p> |
