The anti-vibration mounting for an automobile engine consists of an elastomeric block (1) bonded to two plates. The upper plate is enclosed by a cover (8) together with a second plate (6). Both plates have central holes (5, 11) which coincide with the hole (4) in the elastomeric block (1). A thin metal or plastic plate (13) fits with clearance in the recess (12) in the plate (6) and is provided with a calibrated orifice (14). The mounting is partially filled with fluid and the space (9) above the fluid is filled with high pressure air. The plate (13) can move sufficiently to accommodate small amplitudes of vibration. With large amplitudes the fluid in the space (4) is forced through the hole (14) and so creates a damping force.
|
