<p>High voltage ceramic or synthetic insulator intended for use in overhead cable power transmission systems. The insulator is composed of a series of identical sections to facilitate manufacture, each insulator section having orthodox antitracking and corona wing (6, 7) and corrugations. The elements are glued together using, preferably, a cold setting epoxy resin between machined plane mating surfaces (3, 4). The thickness of the cylindrical section at the junction are such that an overhang 2-4 mm lip protects the glue line (3, 4). The relationship being d1 = 1.25d2, for the respective thicknesses of the two cylinders.</p> |
