The holder consists of a base plate (1), a hinge part (2) and two bearing bows (3, 4) mounted pivotably therein. The bearing journals (20, 21) of the bearing bows can be connected by means of a plug-in coupling (22, 23). To exchange the roll of toilet paper, the bearing journal (10) of one of the bearing bows (4) can be displaced axially, but only when this bearing bow hangs down approximately vertically. Removal of a roll of toilet paper is thus only possible when it has virtually been used up and is no longer worth stealing. <IMAGE>
