A vertical coke oven battery having coal filling shafts, sluices, extractors for the red hot coke, and between the resorts, heating walls with flues, alongside which, recuperators for preheating the fuel and air are arranged, has heating walls on both sides of the vertical retorts. The walls are divided by reinforcing panels into a number of separate heating flues, the feeder channels and inlets for the fuel are provided for the separate fuels. The strong or weak gaseous fuel is introduced at the bottom of the flues through nozzles, and the air for combustion is delivered into channels inside the reinforcement panels and through slots on their surfaces at different heights into the flues. The retorts have a height of ten to twelve metres. The heating flues are 0, 5 to 1mm in length. A recuperator is provided for transfering the latent heat of the hot gases leaving, to the air for combustion and to the low-caloried heating gases. Strong gaseous fuel is fed into the top of the recuperator so that it is not overheated. The heating system makes it possible to have vertical retorts of unlimited height whilst ensuring a fully coked cake which does not break leaving part behind in the retort. The installation is cheaper. Smaller amounts of nitrogeneous oxides are produced. The retorts are heated more uniformly. Strong gaseous fuel cannot be overheated.
|
