Resistance seam welding machine using electrode rollers - suitable for cladding machine parts with wear resistant strip

Resistance-roller seam welding machines uses two electrode rollers, one of which being elastically pressed towards the other. One workpiece(a) rests on a rotary table between the electrodes, while a drive unit feeds a strip cladding material (b) stepwise from a spool through a guide and between the electrodes, so strip (b) is welded onto piece (a). Between the drive unit and the strip guide is a clamping unit triggered by a limit switch actuated by a cam on the rotary table. The limit switch is operated when the desired length of strip (b) has been welded onto piece (a), so the strip breaks at the end of the welded zone, i.e. at the hottest and weakest point. Used in mass prodn., e.g. of agricultural machinery, where a wear-resisting material (b) is welded onto machine parts; or for the mfr. of bimetallic prods.
