<p>The transverse cutter for web material has a cutting roller which is so powered by a constant speed drive via a transmission that during each rotation the roller is once accelerated and once decelerated. This is achieved by interposing between drive and transmission a differential gear with a cam-controlled flywheel mass (16). This gearing accelerates the mass when the roller is decelerated and vice-versa so that the sum of the kinetic energies of transmission and roller on the one hand and of the differential gearing on the other hand remain constant. The gearing has a fixed cam disc (18) which makes contact with a level (13, 14, 15) swivably mounted in the mass (16). The lever engages with a pinion (12) in a gear wheel or segment (11) which is positioned on the drive shaft (10).</p> |
