An electrical connector formed from a strip of resilient metal has pairs of slits disposed in at least two planes. One pair of slits (59, 60) serves to make contact with an end of electrical lead wires (61) whilst the other pair of slits (57-8) is dimensioned so that the width of each slit is equal to or slightly less than the external dia. of the wire (61) which it grips and thus relieves strain on the electrical connection. The clamping slits (57-8) may be in a plane perpendicular to the contacting slits (59-60) or they may be disposed in parallel planes adjacent to one another. The two pairs of slits can be contiguous and formed from a flat spring element bent back on itself.
