Method for the sealed closure of an outlet opening of a storage container holding purable bulk goods, slow flowing material or slurries etc. through which the material is removed in accordance with its angle of pouring or flow. During the closure process the continuous flow of material from the base of the container is subdivided into one part enclosed between the sealing surface of the closure element and the dividing unit and following together with the dividing unit the closure movement of the closure element without coming into contact with the sealing seat. Another part is located outside the dividing element and continuing its flow movement also without contact with the sealing seat.
