The tooth carrier (1) has a recess (4) at its front side to accept the end (5) of the tooth (6). This recess is closed off at the bottom by a bearing block (7) which is inserted between the bottom ends of the flanks of the recess in order to prevent coupling play between the carrier and the end. The bearing block is welded into this position. A hole (2, 8, 9) passes through the carrier (1), the end (5) and the bearing block (7) and runs normally to the bottom and/or top coupling faces so that the end and the carrier can be held together by an flexible splint (3). The carrier can then be fixed to the excavator blade.
