<p>The winding machine has a preforming device (10) which is mounted coaxially on a turntable (12) which bears, equally spaced about its circumference, a plurality of supply coils (32) for the wire. The wires (18) are fed through the preforming device (10) and via a preforming shoulder (64) so that they are bent over towards a flexible tube (38) which is supported by a mandrel (36). During the process, this tube (38) is advanced along the axis of the device so that the wires are uniformly tensioned whilst they are simultaneously wound side by side, parallel to one another, helically on the flexible tube. The bending of the wires in the preforming direction provides said wires with a pretension by means of which they tend to assume the helical shape on the flexible tube. <IMAGE></p> |
