<p>The generator has two electrodes (12a, 12b) which are arranged at a distance from one another along the generator channel (18). In the case of each electrode (12a, 12b), an arc is struck between an emitter (42) and a collector (38) which surrounds the emitter, forming an annular gap (52a, 52b). In the case of this arrangement, the magnetic field (B) causes the arc to rotate in the annular gaps (52a, 52b). The load (20, 58) is connected between the emitter of the one electrode and the collector of the other electrode. This arrangement increases the energy level of the gas (16) in the channel (18) and hence improves the efficiency of the generator. <IMAGE></p> |
