<p>An installation for handling materials, esp, for cooling castings and cooling and drying moulding sand, comprises a driven drum with an inlet and an outlet. The drum is supported on >=1 pair of running rollers and a toothed crown wheel driven by a pinion is fixed to the drum. The driving pinion is coaxial with one of the running rollers and is arranged on a common shaft with it. The crown wheel is driven by two pinions each of which is coaxial with one of the running rollers and is fitted on a common shaft with it. The outer diameter of the pinion is smaller than the inner diameter of the coaxial running roller. The running rollers work with a ring on the drum forming a whole with the crown wheel. The pinion may engage directly with the teeth of the crown wheel or transmit the drive via a chain. The ring working with the running rollers has near enough the same diameter as the crown wheel. A simple and efficient supporting and driving arrangement is provided for the heavily loaded drum.</p> |
