<p>A mixture of an alkali metal or alkaline earth carboxymethyloxysuccinate and a chlorine-releasing agent or an appropriately activated oxygen-releasing agent provides a builder combination suitable for use in detergent compositions to improve the detergency over that obtained when the carboxymethyloxysuccinate is the sole builder. The compositions are also useful in acidic solutions and have utility for the cleaning of metal and other hard surfaces.</p> |
