<p>1483936 Douche, bidet or enema apparatus JL MURRAY and FR GARDINER 30 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 38118/74 Heading A5R [Also in Division Fl] Douche, bidet or enema apparatus consists of a container 12, for douching liquid, e.g. water, closed by cap 14 which supports a housing 60 containing an envelope 100, the housing normally sealing with cap by flanges 84, 86 to prevent exit of the liquid through cap passage 34 to a douche or bidet nozzle 44, the apparatus in use being inverted and a plunger 78, 80 depressed to move the housing away from the cap so allowing the liquid to contact the envelope, the latter containing a first compound, e.g. sodium bicarbonate, to produce with liquid a douching solution, and a second compound, e.g. citric acid to react with the first compound and the liquid to produce effervescence and expel the liquid from the nozzle via passage 34. The housing may also have ports 98 normally sealed by rods 92 attached to the cap and opened on movement of the housing away from the cap by the plunger. The envelope 100, Fig. 7 (not shown), comprises three panels of porous tea-bag paper sealed at their peripheries to define two compartments, one containing the citric acid the other the sodium bicarbonate, one side being sealed with water-soluble cement so that it opens on contact with the liquid to allow the contents out to facilitate their reaction. In modifications, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), the pouch is perforated or has a fold-over flap sealed with water-soluble cement. The nozzle 44 has a shank 42 to fit in the cap and a groove 50 with apertures 52 therein. If used as a bidet it is replaced by another cylindrical nozzle, Fig. 6 (not shown), having a plurality of apertures in a transverse wall. The sodium bicarbonate may be previously dissolved in the douche liquid and then only a one compartment envelope used.</p> |
