Prodn. of a light wt. pallet in the form of a platform supported by means for display of merchandise is provided. Method involves extrusion moulding, to produce, in the first instance, long, hollow boards stiffened by thin longitudinal ribs; the boards can, if desired, be filled with expanded plastic for further strength. These thermoplastic boards are cut and formed into pallets and the joints are made by welding the thermoplastic. The local heating needed may be derived from electric heating elements spaced on a frame, or by friction of the boards themselves. |
