Escalator handrail with top insert of different colour - accommodated in recess of complementary shape and with undercut edges

The handrail is for use on escalators etc. being of rubber or plastic, and has a top insert (2) of a different colour. The hardness of the insert can be 65-75 Shore A, pref. 68-73, and it can be accommodate in a recess (4) of complementary shape, typically with undercut edges (2a, 2b), in which the chamfered edges of the insert fit. The insert thickness can be between 0.1 and 0.5mm., and there can be dovetail-section protrusions on the rear face. It can be glued to the rail. The difference in colour between a bright insert and a dark rail gives the impression of greater cleanliness after long periods in use.
