A braking device for warp beams is provided on the adjustable sliding bearings which receive the beam for the purpose of unwinding. Beams of different lengths may be accommodated on the bearings and correctly braked on the bearing coupling, using a braking force regulator to control variations in traction during unwinding. Previously known braking devices for warps have not been regulated according to the unwinding traction force, which will diminish considerably during the unwinding process. With a constant braking force, differences in friction contact, caused by rusting or dirt on the braking element may give rise to damaged warps during processing. When braking plates are fitted to the beam, they may hamper the fitment of the beam for unwinding, and they may have to be removed during the beam change. The introduction of a controlled braking force on the bearings receiving the beam, provides strong and smooth braking or even the largest beams.
|
