1,247,236. Separating liquid coolant from swarf. EUROFLOW SYSTEMS Ltd. 28 Jan., 1970 [30 Jan., 1969], No. 5129/69. Heading B1D. Filtration apparatus for separating swarf from machine tool coolant comprises an inclined casing whose floor and possibly sides are perforate and which encloses an endless scraper conveyor consisting of blades 21 mounted between driven roller chains 6 which move swarf up the inclined floor to discharge opening 2a. The lower part of the casing floor may be semi-cylindrical or flat and made of perforated plate or wedgewire screen. Ramp 2 forming an extension of the floor may be perforate or partly so, in which case a baffle may be mounted below to convey filtered liquid down into a tank over which the apparatus is mounted. Coolant enters the apparatus through one or both side walls at 32. The conveyor runs parallel to the floor and is driven by electric motor 11. The blades 21 are spring loaded (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) to ride over solids too large to move. Filtering is assisted by an electric vibrator 34 acting on the casing, which is pivoted at 32a to enable inspection of the undersurface, normally resting on rubber bushes 33. A pump may pass filtered liquid from the tank to a second filter. The blades 21 are formed and hardened to shear off pieces of swarf which stick in the perforations. |
