Chewing gum consists of a consumable and/or non consumable gum containing extracts of natural sedatives, eg. hops, valeria, lactuca virosa, piscidarindes or passiflora) and extracts of natural stimulants (eg. coffee, tea, cocoa, cola, guarana or mate). It pref. contains one or more of natural rubber, dammar resin, colophonium, gum, benzoic resin, polyvinyl esters of fatty acids, polyvinyl ethers, polyisobutylene, polythene, butadiene/styrene copolymer, isobutylene/isoprene copolymer, hard and soft paraffins, Peruvian balsam, Tolu balsam, bees' wax, carnauba wax, candle wax, gelatine, alginates gum arabic, tragacanth and fruit pectins.
