Method for burning of spilt oil in oil slicks Granules of foamed plastic, especially of styropor (R), are spread on the oil slick. - The plastic absorbs the oil rapidly and brings oil in contact with air. Petrol is poured subsequently on the plastic and ignited, and when the fire has burnt out a solid, brittle, skin floats on the water surface. This can be either washed or pushed ashore and again burnt with petrol without leaving a residue.
