Gas turbine engine for motor vehicles - has connection between power take off and take off drive through adjustable torque converter

Gas turbine unit espec. for a motor vehicle, consists of a gas generator and a power turbine. The unit includes a connection between the power turbine (5) and the take off drive of the gas generator through a torque convertor (29) the torque input of which is made adjustable. The torque convertor may be operated either on an electric generator basis or as a hydro-dynamic converter with an installation to adjust the torque transmission. The torque converter transmits only a max. of 40% of the power output of the gas turbine unit.
