The slide (2) is operated by the customer key (4) acting on the edges (7, 9) of an aperture (6). The spring loaded arm pivoted on the lock housing (1) rests between the teeth of the slide, preventing its movement. To release the lock, the slide is first moved fully to the left, the arm being free to ride over the tooth (15). The slide may now be moved to the right, the arm riding over both teeth. If failure of the electromagnetic barrier (10) prevents the initial movement to the left of the slide (2), a transverse member actuated by a bank key is slid to the right, releasing the arm from the teeth.
