<p>The cable junction box of insulation material comprises a basse (111) which carries the fuse holders and fuses (121', 131', 141'), and also the glands for incoming mains and outgoing distribution cables. A lid (16) protects the box contents against accidental contact from the outside. This lid has integral moulded barriers on the inside (161, 161') which provide isolation between adjacent fuses. The lid and base are typically connected together by screws, and safety seals to inhibit unauthorised access to the fuses may also be included. The barriers prevent arcing between adjacent fuses in the event of a fuse operating in an explosive manner, yet allow easy access to fuses and terminals with the lid removed.</p> |
