A laminated ski has core layers (5, 6) which are made from wood. The thinner upper core layer (5) is made from a harder timber and its thickness remains constant over the full length of the ski. The lower core (6) made from a softer wood has tapered end which blend into the lower surface of the upper core (5). The facing sides of the two core layers are provided with a number of parallel but offset longitudinal slots. A thin elastic bonding layer (4a) is located between the two core layers. The bonding layer (4a) which improves the elasticity of the ski, and its ability to absorb vibrations, has a Shore hardness of 50-70.
