An inlet housing for an eccentric screw type pump consisting of a suction housing supporting one end of the eccentrically mounted cylindrical link shaft, a rotary slide valve to control the suction branch supports and a bearing housing accommodating the other end of the link shaft and drive shaft. The inner surface of the bearing housing mounted rotary slider valve and the flush jointed suction housing are conically tapered along the length of the link shaft which corresponds to the eccentricity of the link shaft mounting.
