<p>Analgesic compsns. contain (a) alpha-d-propoxyphen (I), i.e. 4-dimethylamino-3-methyl-1,2-diphenyl-2-propionyloxybutane, or A salt thereof, and (b) a benzodiazepine deriv. of formula (II): (where R1 is H or Me; R2 is 2 H atoms or an oxo group; R3 is H; R4 is CH or N; R5 is Cl, Br or NO2). Cpds. (II), which normally act as tranquillisers, potentiate the analgesic activity of (I), giving compsns. which are effective (and non-addictive) at low doses (e.g. 0.5-30 mg/kg of (I), p.o.).</p> |
