Heat-insulating connection between two metal profile pieces, in doors, windows or other elements, is effected by a plastic batten engaged by a stem on one of the pieces with a number of lengthways protuberances. The batten (5) is more than 0.8 mm thick, and incorporates a smooth-sided groove (15) to hold the stem (6, 7), 0.3-0.8 mm less in width (13) than the thickness of the stem including protuberances (8). These are acute-angled, and have intervening symmetrically shaped lengthways grooves (9). The ratio of the interval (A) between groove side (16) and adjacent open batten edge (17) to groove depth (T) is at least 1:1.5. This can absorb considerable tension and transverse forces arising from bending stress, facilitating production of large-area windows and doors with insulating effect from both frame profile pieces.
|
