The heating and ventilating system is used for the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. This system has a blower and heat exchanger with a parallel cold air bypass channel. The system has a mixing chamber, control flaps and ventilating nozzles on the dashboard, defrosting nozzles for the windscreen and air outlets for the feet region. Three channels (11, 13, 14) branch from the mixing chamber (10). The channel (11) to the ventilating nozzles is arranged in line with the cold air bypass (8). The channels to the feet region (13) and to the defroster nozzles (14) are directed downwards.
