摘要 <p>Purificn. of inorganic materials, esp. those suitable for the growth of monocrystals, involves prepurificn. by heating in a closed system to a temp. slightly below the decompsn. temp. until organic cpds. of similar vapour pressure have decomposed and then subjecting to the actual purificn. process in conventional manner. Pref. HgI2 is heated in a sealed ampoule for at least a week at 350 degrees C, opt. with addn. of a catalyst to promote decompsn. of the organic impurities. Used for the purificn. of HgI2 and for the prodn. of purified inorganic materials for making detector monocrystals. These detectors can be used for counting X-rays and nuclear particles, including gamma-rays. Process ensures that the end prod. is very highly pure and overcomes the difficulty of removing residual organic impurities from HgI2.</p>
