1514273 Stabilized polylaurolactam CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 8 Oct 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 41182/75 Heading C3R Polylaurolactam (P) having low gel-speck content, and free from Cu salts, aromatic amines, and metal iodides, is made from molten laurolactam (L) to which has been added 0À1-1À5% wt., based on (P), of (M) where Y is S, O, or NH, by polymerization, at superatmospheric pressure and at 260-340‹ C., in the presence of water and optionally a mono- or poly-carboxylic acid, followed by removal of water and optionally by further condensation at 200-300‹ C. Alternatively, (M) may be added to molten speck-free (P), e.g. at 200- 320‹ C. in an extruder. |
