1514318 Lawn mowers FUSO KEIGOKIN CO Ltd 13 Aug 1975 [28 Dec 1974 (2)] 33668/75 Heading A1F A cutting mechanism for a lawn mower comprises a support, a first cutting member 1a rotatably mounted thereon, a second cutting member 1b mounted on the support overlapping and spring biased into engagement with the first, and drive means connected to at least the first cutting member 1a to rotate it. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 14 cutting disc 1b is biased into overlapping engagement with cutting disc 1a. In further embodiments, not shown, the second cutting disc is also driven, further pairs of cutting discs are provided, and the support on which the discs are mounted is rotated about a vertical axis. Figs. 25, 26 show a lawn mower with two rotating supports B', B" each provided with two pairs of cooperating cutting discs 1a, 1b driven by motor 7 through gears 6, 12a, 13, 5a, 5b. In the embodiment of Figs. 27-28 (not shown) the second cutting member is provided by a fixed annular plate (1c) and in the embodiments of Figs. 20, 29, 30 (not shown) a central cutting disc is provided with two orbiting cutting discs. In the embodiment of Fig. 22 (not shown) a first cutting disc cooperates with two co-axial second cutting discs which respectively overlap the upper and lower surfaces of the first disc. In the embodiment of Figs. 31, 32 (not shown) a support (I) for pairs of overlapping cutting discs is rotated, the discs being rotated about shafts journalled in the support by means of rollers fixed to the shafts and respectively engaging the radially inner and outer surfaces of an annular ring (21) fixed in the frame of the mower.
