[Also in Division C3] A vibration damping laminated system comprises two plates, e.g. of steel, bonded by an interlayer comprising a copolymer containing from 30 to 40 parts by weight of units derived from vinyl acetate, from 30 to 40 parts by weight of units derived from 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, from 10 to 30 parts by weight of units derived from di-n-butyl maleate and from 5 to 15 parts by weight of units derived from crotonic acid, the total number of parts by weight of the various units being 100. The copolymer may be partially cross-linked, e.g. with agents such as epoxides or isocyanates, and may contain a minor amount of a filler, e.g. heavy spar, silicic acid, graphite and/or soot. The copolymer, in the molten state, can be applied to the plates by trowelling, brushing or pouring.</p> |
