1514394 Hinges DETROIT MARINE ENG CORP 15 June 1976 [22 Sept 1975] 24784/76 Heading E2F In a hinge for a stowable boat ladder 12, upper 21 and lower 22 sections of the hinge are each provided with a rail support 15 which is housed in a tubular socket 23, 24 of the upper and lower sections of the hinge respectively, the upper section 21 having three leaves 27, 28 and 29 which interfit with two leaves 36, 37 on the lower section 22, the leaves being held together by a pin 35 which operates in a slot 42 provided in the leaves 36, 37 such that the ladder may be stowed in the position shown in Figure 1 or may be extended to an operative position shown in Figure 2. A bridge portion 43 is formed between the leaves 36 and 37 and serves to strengthen the leaves. When the hinge is in its folded position the surface 44 of the bridge portion 43 abuts the leaf 28. The hinge may be formed of a moulded plastics material. |
