The invention concerns a method for heating of a paper or cardboard web in the press part of the paper or cardboard machine in which said web W is transported via press nips N1, N2, N3 which are formed by press rolls 1, 11, 21, 31 for drainage of web W. According to the invention, a transfer belt wound into an endless loop over the center roll 1 of the press part is guided by means of tension and guide rolls 3, 4; 103, 104, 110, said belt extending outside of the area of press rolls 1, 11, 21, 31. The paper web W is transferred to run on the transfer belt 2 and the paper web W is heated in the area of said loop outside of press rolls 1, 11, 21, 31. Heat can be introduced directly to paper web W and/or via transfer belt 2. The invention also concerns an arrangement intended to carry out the method. <IMAGE>
