The blank is intended for making a buffered pack for a book and consists of two equal panels (20, 21) forming the front and rear and connected, via fold lines, by a buffer piece (22) with at least two further fold lines. At the other end, one panel (20) is connected to a flap (27) via a fold (28), which flap contains at least two further parallel folds (29, 31). The sides of the panels are connected by side flaps ( 23-26). The outermost fold (31) only extends part-way in the central flap region, and continues at either end of this fold to the sides as tear lines (34, 35). Further tear lines (36, 37) extend from the two ends of this fold (31) to the free end of the flap.
