Tobacco leaf cutting procedure - using machine with two sets of spools to feed leaf to rotating cruciform member with edge pick-up components

The special machine for cutting or slicing tobacco leaves. A spool (4) rotates to deposit the tobacco leaves on a belt which passes them to a pick-up rotor of cruciform section with T-shaped edge members (9). The pick-up arms and edge members all rotate about the same spindle (11). The tobacco leaves passed around by the pick-up arm pass the tobacco to a vacuum source (15) to remove dust particles. the tobacco itself is removed by a rotary belt (17) passing over two spools (18, 19) which move the belt across the surface of each pick-up arm.
