A drive spindle (15) of the associated machine tool drives a work spindle (10), bearing a grinding wheel (11), via an intermediate shaft (17) and a flexible shaft (16) coupled thereto. The intermediate shaft (17) is connected to the flexible shaft (16) by means of a slot coupling (19). As force-transmission members, the slot coupling (19) has balls (40) which are guided in longitudinal grooves of the two coupling halves (37, 38) and permit axial movement of the two shafts (17, 16) relative to each other. The work spindle (10) is pivotably mounted in a bearing bush (8) by means of a ball-and-socket joint (6, 12). By means of the force, adjustable by a clamping sleeve (25), of a helical spring (23), the contact-pressure force on the bearing bush (8), and thus the contact-pressure force of the grinding wheel (11) with respect to the workpiece (5), can be adjusted. A housing (3) is suspended on a basic plate (1) by means of joints (4) and can be driven in a reciprocating manner in the axial direction by means of an axially effective cam (28) which is connected, such that it is fixed in terms of rotation, to the intermediate shaft (17). The device permits a uniform cutting force when machining curved surfaces such as, for example, turbine blades. <IMAGE>
