<p>The rowlock mounting consists of two brackets which fit on either side of the gunwhale and is fitted with two rowlocks (1, 2). The inner rowlock consists of a ring to take the loom of the oar. The outside rowlock is a fork with a pin (3) passing through the oar and rowlock. The hinge (4) consists of two links which couple the oar halves together loosely. A universal coupling may also be used. The leverage of the oar may be varied by changing the distance between the outer rowlock and the hinge.</p> |
