<p>The fuel saving device fitted between the fuel pumps and carburettor for an internal combustion engine for a road vehicle, acts as a pressure regulator. It is mounted near the carburettor, and has a diaphragm clamped between two domed sheels, to form two chambers. One chamber has fuel entry and discharge connections, the entry being at the centre, the outlet being at the top. The diaphragm is then vertical. The diaphragm has a rigid centre clamped inside a flexible ring. The fuel discharge is controlled by a needle valve with the needle resting on the middle of the diaphragm. A spring rests against the other side of the diaphragm, and its tension is adjusted by a screw mounted in the centre of the domed shell that side. This screw is controlled by a ratchet mechanism.</p> |
