<p>The deive is used for making rubs by hand, by forming knots rapidly, using e.g. a woollen yarn, in a base fabric. It comprises a long body with a front end for holding a U-shaped guide whose prongs are fitted into the body. The guide is bent radially inwards in relation to the lengthwise direction of the body. The body has a slot in its front end. The width of the slot is narrower than the distance between the prongs of the guide. Two tufts of yarn may be taken up by the slot and held in place by friction. A sliding element is fitted in the long body of the device, which may move against the action of a return means from a back rest position to a front position. The element terminates in a fork opening into the slot. In the front position, the element penetrates between the prongs of the guide. Arrangement is intened to improve upon the conventional rug hook provided with a pivoted latch, which on withdrawal of the hook, forms a kind of needle eye to knot the yarn. The rug hook requires both hands to work it, the sustained attention of the user, and there may be a lack of control over the tightening of the knots. Such disadvantages are now eliminated.</p> |
