<p>The motorcycle comprises a rear wheel (3) on a shaft carried by swinging arms (16) freely pivotable on separate shafts (14) carried by frame uprights (10). A suspension unit (18) is connected between each arm and a frame part, the shafts being at the same level or higher than the point where the upper run (21a) of the drive chain (21) crosses the frame uprights (10). Rear weight transfer during acceleration is thus suppressed. The shafts may be mounted in other holes (23) in the uprights (10), and the drive unit (5) is selectively connected to holes (25, 26), to maintain the required relationship. Forward weight transfer on braking is reduced by mounting the disc brake calipers (28) on an oblique frame member (12) by a horizontal transverse member supported at the rear of the torque arm (32).</p> |
