Tape speed measurement system in recorder cassette - incorporates endless band drive for stroboscope disc synchronised with tape

A device is used for checking the speed of movement of the tape in a tape recorder cassette. Within the cassette body (3) there is an additional endless tape (4) which is driven under tension maintained by a spring-loaded arm (5). This arm drives a stroboscopic disc (8) the segments of which can be observed through a window in the top face of the cassette. The speed of the endless tape (4) and the stroboscope disc (8) is proportional to that of the recording tape.
